Hello darkness my old friend

It’s been a little while since I last wrote a blog of my own. You know that saying about a builder’s house never being finished? Something like that…

So it’s high time I showed my face and gave you (and Google) a little update about where I’ve been, where I’m going, and what I’m doing that I said I’d never do again, ever.

Where did you come from, where did you go?

If you’re new here — welcome. I’m Niki, a Milton Keynes-based copywriter, living and working amongst those concrete cows, famous roundabouts, and that Cliff Richard music video backdrop.

I work with businesses from global brands to local independents, creating copy that connects, converts and makes marketing that little bit easier.

And, I’ve recently returned from maternity leave round 2; now officially qualified in pretending I don’t have chocolate in my mouth when I very much do.

A fresh new look

It’s not just my ability to hide chocolate from children that’s changed — you might have noticed a brand-new website, too.

The original A Way With Words branding had been with me from the start so it felt like the right time for a refresh: new colours, new fonts, new words, and new photos (captured by the very talented Stephanie O’Callaghan).

It’s a brighter, bolder reflection of what I do – content writing that balances creativity with clarity.

New projects

Coming back from mat leave, I thought I’d ease myself in with some inbox admin, a catch-up coffee or two, and plenty of getting my “oh my God what happened here” house into a slightly less chaotic state. But, in true A Way With Words style, I leapt straight back into some brilliant projects, including:

  • Working with an IT training provider – proofing web copy generated by a custom GPT tool to make sure it was correct, on-brand, and within the word count.
  • Working with a digital design agency – turning their research study on AI and marketing into a clear, compelling digital download.
  • Working with a marketing team – providing the final content proof before their shiny new website went live.

It’s been a busy return to work, but I wouldn’t have it any other way (especially now I have nursery fees to pay for — have you seen those!?).

What’s coming up

Over the next few weeks, I shall be attending and then talking about a country music festival — but outside of that I will also be:

  • Helping a local start-up launch their beta product – creating web copy, content strategy, blogs, and even an award entry to get them noticed.
  • Planning ahead for clients’ 2026 marketing campaigns – helping them make the most of AI tools with the all-important human touch.

And on a personal note, I’m also training for the Milton Keynes Winter Half Marathon. Yes, I did say I’d never run again after the London Marathon back in 2019 (where did that time go?!). And I’ve largely kept to that promise but if you know, you know.

Let’s work together

So, that’s me – back, refreshed, and ready to help businesses tell their stories.

Whether you’re a start-up looking to make your mark, an established company needing polished copy, or somewhere in between, I can help with:

  • Blog writing
  • Web copy
  • Whitepapers and reports
  • Proofing and editing (AI-generated or human-written!)
  • Content strategy

If you’re looking for a content writer in Milton Keynes (or beyond), I’d love to hear from you.
